Chapter 129 Her Thriving Love Life
David James' love words were so sweet, no woman could reject him.
Madelyn's heart was in turmoil.
She couldn't even recall when or how she hung up the phone.
All she could remember was David's final words: "What's wrong with putting a little effort and time into chasing a girl? Madelyn, I've waited for you a long time, so I don't mind waiting a little longer."
Madelyn parked the car and gently stroked the steering wheel...
She didn't know how to reject David. After all, he had everything going for him and didn't need to wait for her.
She had been with Daniel Campbell for four years, and now she was seeing Benjamin Clark.
Madelyn knew that she could never be David's true love.
Sighing softly, she opened the door of the imposing Campbell Group building, the one place she never wanted to return.
Understandably, Madelyn didn't want to see Daniel. So she handed the check to the receptionist and said, "Please pass this on to Mr. Campbell."
The receptionist, who had been working at the Campbell Group for six years, recognized Madelyn immediately as Mr. Campbell's ex-girlfriend.
Outsiders believed that it was Mr. Campbell who had abandoned Ms. Green. But the rumor around at the Campbell Group that Mr. Campbell had changed his mind after getting engaged and tried to win her back, only to be rejected.
Mr. Campbell had gone mad recently!
The receptionist was polite and promised Madelyn, "Don't worry, Ms. Green. I'll make sure Mr. Campbell receives this." As soon as she finished speaking, she looked behind Madelyn.
"Mr. Campbell!"
Madelyn turned around slowly.
Daniel stood behind her, and nobody knew how long he had been there.
Madelyn said flatly, "Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Campbell. I appreciate it."
There was no need for any further pleasantries between them.
Madelyn turned to leave, but her hand was caught tightly by Daniel.
"Madelyn!"
His tone was urgent, as if he was afraid she would suddenly disappear.
Madelyn shook off his grip. "Daniel Campbell, have some self-respect!"
Daniel smiled bitterly.
He let go of Madelyn and said softly: "Just sit in the lobby, I'll ask the secretary to bring you a cup of coffee. Madelyn ... with so many people around us, you don't want to make a scene, do you?"
Madelyn looked around and found that there were many employees peeking at them.
Without listening to Daniel finish his words, she didn't know what he would do...
Five minutes later, Madelyn sat with him in the lobby's tearoom.
Daniel personally brewed a cup of Mandheling coffee for Madelyn. After it was done, he said gently: "Would you like a sugar cube?"
"Just one," replied Madelyn.
Daniel handed it over to her and sat down across from her.
Madelyn gazed at him.
Daniel had lost a lot of weight recently, indicating that he hadn't been living well. In the past, Madelyn would be very distressed, but now she felt nothing.
It had only been a year since they broke up, but Madelyn couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic.
Daniel had always been gentle, "Try it, Madelyn. If it doesn't taste good, I'll brew you another cup."
Madelyn, on the other hand, was very cold.
"Daniel Campbell, if you have something to say, just say it. I didn't come here to chat and reminisce."
"I know," he said. His tone tinged with a bit of sadness.
He looked Madelyn straight in the eyes and said, "The 5 million is just a small token of my appreciation. Madelyn, don't reject me! I just want to compensate you and treat you better. Won't you even give me a chance?"
Madelyn had a terrible time last night!
Her head was still spinning now!
But today, within an hour, she had heard two men confessing their love for her. One of them was her ex-boyfriend who had even cheated on her!
Madelyn didn't want to talk to him anymore. Daniel seemed relentless, however.
She got up and said politely, "Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Campbell! I must take my leave now."
Daniel called her back.
He looked into her eyes and said, "Madelyn, after last night, do you still want to be with him?"
Madelyn's face stiffened.
She felt somewhat embarrassed in front of Daniel, but she still forced a smile and said, "That's none of your business, Mr. Campbell!"
