Chapter 16 Ask Her Out for a Drink Tonight
After work.
Benjamin declined several invitations and drove to the restaurant.
At 8 p.m., the restaurant's best hour, Madelyn sat before the piano and played.
Tonight she wore a long, grey dress that showed a little of her shoulders, and her long, tawny hair hung soft around her waist.
It was very beautiful and romantic.
Benjamin looked through the glass for about ten minutes, then got out of the car, pushed the door and walked in.
He ordered something casually, and just sat there and listened to Madelyn play.
Benjamin noticed that from time to time, decent men came to talk to her. Presumably they were attracted by Madelyn.
Madelyn always said no politely.
During a break, Madelyn received a business card.
[Bravo Legal Firm, Attorney Benjamin]
Madelyn was stunned. She turned over and saw Benjamin.
He was sitting in the corner with a glass of aperitif in his hand. He was good-looking, and his simple movements were very attractive.
Madelyn didn't want to have anything to do with him, but she was even more afraid to offend him.
She went over anyway.
"Mr. Clark."
Benjamin nodded and motioned her to sit down.
As soon as Madelyn sat down, Benjamin saw the eye of a new needle on the back of her hand. He guessed that it was because she got wet last night.
"Have Ms. Green eaten? Take some."
Benjamin was serious and polite. There was no sign of disrespect and rudeness he showed when he just thrown his card.
Madelyn placed his business card on the table, and said with a touch of restraint, "There is a rule that we should not to eat with guests during business hours."
Benjamin ignored that card.
