Chapter 168 Benjamin Wasn't Home Late at Night
After walking out of the study, Benjamin pulled Madelyn over.
He held her in his arms without speaking... Madelyn was aggrieved.
Madelyn was in his house now during New Year's holidays, so she didn't lose her temper.
She leaned over his shoulder, smelling his nice perfume, and asked in a low voice, "When are you coming back?"
Benjamin had to go to the office later.
The lawyer of Eleanor's husband was waiting to have formal conversations with Benjamin.
Benjamin thought for a moment and said, "I will be back before dinner! I'll have dinner with you, and then we'll go back to the apartment... Madelyn, this is not going to affect our lives."
Madelyn forced a smile.
In the afternoon, Benjamin left after Alexander.
Brianna had intended to hang out with Madelyn and Eloise, but she was in no mood for it now...
The atmosphere at the Clarks' mansion was a bit depressing.
Madelyn waited for Benjamin from day to night, but Benjamin had not returned yet.
Benjamin made a call to Madelyn and asked her to eat first. He would have the driver take her back to the apartment. He said he would be back later.
Madelyn did not ask what time he would be back home.
When it came to Eleanor, Madelyn felt her self-esteem was hurt.
When Madelyn left with Snowy at 8:00 p.m., Brianna felt so sorry for her.
Madelyn smiled faintly. "I'm all right!"
But she knew that she felt bitter inside the whole day...
She got into the car.
The driver did not drive immediately, and the door to the rear seat passenger was pulled open.
Daniel appeared in the night.
The driver was so sensible that he could see there was something between Mr. Campbell and Ms. Green. The driver thought he'd better keep his mouth shut.
Daniel held the roof of the car and looked at Madelyn. "I have something to tell you."
Madelyn was in a bad mood and didn't want to talk to him.
Daniel grabbed her by the arm and forcefully dragged her out of the car...
The night wind was strong.
Madelyn goggled at him. Daniel lowered his head and lit a cigarette. He blew smoke rings and raised his eyes at her. "Do you want to be with Benjamin after all this? The international divorce case can take up to two years. Are you gonna watch Benjamin interact with his old flame all this time? Every time Eleanor cuts her artery, Benjamin will visit her in the hospital, as his father tells him. Madelyn, is that what you want? Are you going to put up all of this?"
This was hard to hear. What Daniel said disgusted her.
But what he said was right!
Madelyn said calmly, "Daniel... It's none of your business whether I'm happy or not!"
Daniel slammed the roof of the car!
The driver was startled.
Daniel looked horribly angry in the darkness as he questioned her, "Madelyn, you think I'm inhuman and don't want the best for you, don't you? But has it occurred to you that I want you to have a damn good life?"
Daniel was fuming.
His fingers were trembling as he held the cigarette. "Don't lose your head. You're better off with David than you are with Benjamin!"
Madelyn's face was pale.
Daniel stared at her quietly, and spoke very gently all of a sudden, "Madelyn, would you consider giving me another chance? I won't let you down again."
Madelyn got back into the car.
She sat in the back seat and said in a soft voice, "Daniel, it's too late!"
With that, she instructed the driver to drive.
The driver sighed and gently stepped on the gas.
Madelyn didn't say anything on the way back, but the young driver couldn't help but say, "Ms. Green, don't worry. I won't tell anyone about what happened tonight!"
Madelyn was silent.
She... didn't seem to care that much anymore!
She went back to Benjamin's apartment, made up the bad for Snowy, and waited for Benjamin to come back!
Madelyn waited until 12:00 at night, but he hadn't come back yet.
The night was quite silent...
Only Snowy circled back and forth around her feet.
Madelyn sat in front of the Morning Dew Piano and played it over and over again. She played all the tunes she could remember, but Benjamin hadn't returned.
Snowy was so sleepy and lying at her feet.
Madelyn sat in front of the piano. In front of her was the lovely view of Gredax.
But she felt depressed.
She started to examine her relationship with Benjamin and found that there was no way back...
...
Benjamin didn't come home all night.
In the early morning, Madelyn left the apartment with Snowy and went back to her small house.
Benjamin might have gone back to the apartment before he called her.
Madelyn held the phone and didn't know what to say.
Benjamin was probably very busy. He barely said a few words before he got another call, and he had to hang up on her.
After that, they didn't see each other for several days.
At this point, something was wrong with the music studio.
The music studio opened on the 8th of this month. Penelope asked Madelyn to her office alone for coffee. Madelyn saw Penelope looked ill and inquired with concern about her health.
"Madelyn, I have stomach cancer!" Penelope whispered to her.
...
Madelyn was holding her coffee cup and blinked gently at the words.
Then tears fell from her eyes.
She didn't wipe her tears but asked very softly, "Did you recheck it?"
...
"Yes. I've been to all the best hospitals in the country and abroad. Madelyn, I want to go to Oriapool to recuperate. I don't want to give my shares to others. If possible, I want you to take over my shares. I just want to get all my money back!"
Penelope took Madelyn's hand.
Madelyn put down her cup of coffee.
Her fingers were trembling, and after a long time, she said, "I'll go with you to Oriapool!"
Penelope shook her head.
Penelope had been strong, and she had unfinished business.
