Being an alpha wasn't easy especially if you haven't found your mate yet. The only thing that I could do at the moment is to fvck around and to assure my father that I would find whoever my luna is. I've been looking for her since I turned 19, heck, I even attended a huge gathering just to find her but she was nowhere to be found. I just gave up when I realized that she probably doesn't belong to the same pack as me.
"Caiden, this pack already needs a luna," father stated hesitantly, choosing his words carefully and strategically to avoid pissing me off.
I raised my brow. "And?"
"I think Aria would be a great–"
"No."
I took a large gulp of my favorite wine as I look at my father who's standing a few meters away from me with Derrick standing beside him. They keep dragging Aria's name whenever we're talking about my mate. Yeah, sure, Aria is pretty, probably the prettiest in the pack but I never considered her as a potential luna. She's not my fucking type and I hate the way she cling to me.
"Your mate is an outsider, Caiden. How could you be so sure that she's willing to give up everything that she has just to lead the pack?" Father scoffed.
I smirked, pouring myself another glass of blueberry wine. "No one have ever rejected an alpha's offer."
Derrick shook his head. "You and your confidence."
I chuckled. Well, is there any reason for me to be humble? I know how irresistible my looks are and I am always proud with my 6'3 height. A lot of she-wolves wanted to be my personal slash permanent slave and said that they are willing to satisfy my needs until I found my mate. Their offer is very tempting but I don't want them to live in a fantasy that I would change my mind and reject my mate just for them. I only give chances to those she-wolves who understands the no-strings-attach rule.
The Blue Crescent pack is the largest pack in this generation. We have a lot of territories that keeps on expanding for the past three years. We also formed an alliance with the five neighboring packs and even those hard-headed alpha who wouldn't surrender in our care will probably sigh in defeat once they realize that they have no match for us.
I understand why a lot of female wolves tried to seduce me in the hopes that I would make them as my luna. Everyone wants power, after all.
"By the way, you've got an invitation," Derrick said as he took the small envelope out from his coat.
Derrick is my beta and also my best friend. He's two years older than me and he sometimes act like an older brother. He keeps my schedule on track and all the invitation needs to go through him first before it could reach me.
"Here."
My face crumpled when I saw the black envelope. "Did you read it?" I asked after I got the envelope from him. Derrick immediately shook his head. "I am not allowed to read something that was directly addressed to the alpha," he replied.
I opened the envelope and my eyes quickly surveyed what was was written inside. "Bullshit," I scoffed, throwing the envelope away from my sight. Father and Derrick was no longer surprised about my reaction. They knew that it was an invitation for the upcoming ball.
"I don't want to go," I said, tilting my head as I brought the glass to my lips, drinking everything in one gulp.
