"Princess Yvania Natalia Huxley of Iterra Ideron!"
The knights lined up like an aisle, the torches danced as the threads of smoke remained in the breeze. The leaves rustled and the flag of our kingdom swayed elegantly on top of the castle. I sighed in relief when I stopped in front of my brother who gave me a small nod.
I extended my right foot behind my left, holding both sides of my dress as I lowered my head and bent my knees outward.
"You may rise."
After I did a curtsy in front of him, I immediately stood straight and went to his side. My 5'7 height is nothing compared to his 6ft frame. He then look at the vampires who attended this “very important” event.
According to the butler, there's 680 vampires standing in this ballroom but I could only see twelve familiar faces.
Brother cleared his throat. "Today, as we celebrate my sister's 18th birthday, I hereby announced that she is now officially a crown princess and has the right to take over the throne once I resign. For now, I just want to respectfully thank all of the attendees for having your presence with us. I hope that you would offer my sister a blessing to success and may the kingdom of Iterra Ideron will remain at peace while we celebrate together with the princess."
My heart was pounding heavily against my chest as my eyes drifted to the audience. They all gave me a heartwarming round of applause, but I could still see the hint of disapproval in their eyes.
They definitely don't like the thought of me having the rights to the throne due to my notoriety as the illegitimate daughter of the former king. Well, it's not that I care about their opinions.
My brother snapped his fingers and music started to overwhelm the place. Couples went to the dancefloor for a dance, some started eating their foods, and a lot of people went to greet me but all I did was to fake a smile. It was mentally draining, pretending that I was interested about their status in life.
I look at my brother, Reehan, who's currently talking with someone. If I'm not mistaken, it must be the famous duke of Iterra Ideron. That old hag. He didn't even bother to greet me even though I'm just standing a few meters away from Reehan.
"Ehem."
I immediately tore my gaze away from them when a familiar figure of a man stood in front of me while holding a red rose. He was wearing a royal blue coat partnered with a brooch that signifies their kingdom.
"Greetings, princess." He formally bowed his head in front of me.
"Prince Dashiell, it's really nice to see you," I said with a voice full of sarcasm. He knew very well how much I hate his presence and yet he still dare to shamelessly greet me in front of everyone.
"It's also nice to see you, princess. Happy birthday."
He tried to give the red rose to me but I didn't accept it. He gasped and scratched his head out of embarrassment. "Why are you doing this to me, princess?" He asked. I glanced at my brother once again but to my surprise, he was already glaring at me!
I apologetically smiled at the prince, who was clearly humiliated, and said, "Sorry, I need to talk to the king."
With that, I left. Those who probably witness what I did to the prince must be thinking that I am such a heartless, arrogant, princess without realizing that I just don't want to give Dashiell another false hope.
"What did you do to the prince of Denver, Yvania?" My brother asked while raising a brow.
"Ah, nothing?"
"I saw what you did and it is very rude."
I pressed my lips together. Can't he see that I'm not in the mood to socialize especially with a prince like Dashiell? "How much do you plan to torture me, brother? I don't like this party. It's so plain and boring. How could I enjoy my birthday if I could see how much they hate me? I'm sure that the only reason why they went here is because of you. The duke didn't even greet me!" I sulked.
