For the second time in less than an hour, Cassie heard her boss laugh. Just like the first laugh of the day, it was a sarcastic one. The thing that unnerved Cassie about Felix’s laugh was that she had never seen him crack even a little smile. Hearing him burst out in laughter, even if it was a sarcastic one and not bred from genuinely finding something amusing or funny, was more than odd.
He threw his head back and let out a disbelieving but sarcastic chuckle. “Sapphire, I really must commend you on your great acting performance. I mean, bravo. When we first met, you pretended to be a sane person capable of making logical decisions. Looking at you now, I can see that you are probably the least sane and least logical person in the entire world.” Felix explained.
“I’m not some cheap whore that you can just use and discard.” Sapphire snarled.
“Only one part of that sentence is true.” Felix said. “You’re not exactly cheap, Sapphire. No one on Fantasies is.”
Sapphire’s face clouded over and she looked like she wanted to come up with a sharp retort but she changed her mind at the last minute. “I’m going to ignore that one because you’re obviously stressed out. But I’ve been told that I’m very good at relieving people’s stress. So, where would you have me Felix? Over the table or against your office’s window?” She asked, taking a step towards him.
Felix, not trusting himself to not hit her if she got too close, took a step behind Cassie. Cassie, who was in no way involved in their lover’s quarrel – if it could even be called that – took personal offense to his actions. She had no desire to be put in between the two feuding parties.
“Let me ask you something. When you woke up this morning, did you genuinely think to yourself that you were going to get all dressed up, come over here to demand that I have sex with you and then actually succeed?” He asked from behind Cassie. “If you did, then you’re even more stupid than I initially thought you were. I think I’ve let you fool around for too long, Sapphire. I am not going to fuck you and I certainly do not intend to go back on my review for you as you so blatantly disregarded our agreement. It is about time you left. Thank you for stopping by. I hope the door hits you on the way out.”
“I’m not going anywhere!” Sapphire declared.
“That’s where you are wrong.” Felix scoffed. “Marcus.”
Marcus pushed the door open. Behind him were two other members of Tech Town’s security team.
“Escort Sapphire out of the building.” He instructed.
