Cordelia froze for a moment, her mind clouded with thoughts. The constant back-and-forth with Alana was exhausting, but what weighed on her heart the most was her mother. She desperately wanted to uncover her origins—to understand where she truly came from.
Feeling a mix of frustration and hope, Cordelia blurted out, “If it makes you feel better, we can renew our vows!”
Ronan didn’t even acknowledge her, simply walking downstairs and out of sight.
What he didn’t know was that Cordelia was already in the process of applying for a visa.
Her phone buzzed with a message from Tony: *Ms. Haselwood, I’ve heard Alana’s planning a trip with that girl. I can set up a meeting with Seth for you, but you need to act fast.*
*I’ll do my best,* Cordelia replied.
Looking for some solace, Cordelia found an old movie featuring her mother and August. Watching it, she saw the sparkle in her mother’s eyes whenever she looked at August. Her mom was truly beautiful, and the way August looked back at Alana was filled with love too.
*What about August? Did you tell him? Has he moved on? He deserves to know what really happened,* Cordelia messaged Tony.
*After August left the spotlight, he vanished from England. No one knew where he went back then, and now it’s even harder to find any trace of him. I’ve looked everywhere to no avail.*
Cordelia felt a heavy weight in her chest. August was her father, but she had no idea where he was. Alana had shattered their family, and Cordelia loathed her for it. She had always been like a scared little rabbit around Alana, doing whatever she was told out of fear.
But now, knowing all of Alana’s wrongdoings, Cordelia felt her top priority was to rescue her mother.
The idea of going to England consumed her, and nothing could change her mind.
*Uncle Tony, can you help sort out my mom’s documents? I want to get her out of there,* she messaged Tony.
