The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 565

Cordelia eyed Ronan, noting how he was holding back his temper this time. "Well, would you look at that? Keeping it cool, huh?" she thought.

Relationships are all about give and take. If he was managing his anger, she couldn't be the one to lose hers.

She nestled into the cocoon of his blanket, her breath a soft whisper at his ear, "Babe, I'll be back in a week, promise. You know where I'm going, right? If it’s too hard, just tag along."

Her fingers danced lightly across Ronan's chest, "Deal or no deal?"

The anger Ronan had been wrestling with didn’t stand a chance, especially not with Cordelia snuggling up like that. He melted.

He rolled over, pinning Cordelia beneath him, "One week! And don't even think about bringing your mom back with you!"

"So you're good with it, honey?" Cordelia's eyes sparkled like stars, radiating love as she gazed up at Ronan.

"Yeah," he grunted.

Cordelia, in her entire life, only ever let her guard down like a kid with two people: one was Shelley, and the other was Ronan.

Funny thing, though—when she was with Eason, she sometimes showed this same side of herself, letting loose and opening up to share her innermost thoughts. Being a psychologist, spilling her heart to him naturally brought them closer.

Cordelia had just transferred to Millstone College. They hadn’t assigned her a grad student yet, and she was still applying for a new research topic. She had already wrapped up her project at Birchwood College.

She planned to leave on Friday and return the following week, taking a week off.

Ronan and Cordelia hadn’t officially tied the knot again yet.

Cordelia, concerned for their child, made Ronan promise to keep a close eye on their little one, to make sure the kiddo would listen to daddy.

“Mama, you gotta come back fast, okay?” Callum told Cordelia.

“Of course, sweetheart,” Cordelia said, gently patting Callum’s head before she left.

When it was time for Cordelia to head out, Ronan drove her to the airport.

Though he wasn’t joining Cordelia on her trip, Ronan had someone to keep a discreet eye on her.
