Upon arriving at Eason's place, Tony had already returned. Seeing Cordelia with Eason, they looked like a perfect match, a real power couple. Tony was thrilled, but his happiness was shadowed by the sad truth that Cordelia’s heart still belonged to her ex-husband.
Eason had prepared a cozy room for Cordelia, a haven to help her adjust to the jet lag. However, sleep didn’t come easily; she was too nervous, perhaps about reuniting with her mother, or maybe it was the uncertainty of what lay ahead.
The next day, Cordelia, Tony, and Eason headed to the Keegan family estate. Stepping into the Keegan home was almost like entering a dream.
As they approached the house, Cordelia’s heart raced like a bird trapped in a storm. Inside, she fought back tears, overwhelmed by the emotion of seeing long-lost family.
“Go on and take care of things,” Tony told the housekeeper, introducing his son and daughter-in-law, Simone, who had come for a visit. The housekeeper, chosen by Alana for her vigilance, knew better than to pry when Tony suggested she busy herself. Yet, as she made her way to the kitchen, she snapped a photo of Cordelia, capturing only her silhouette, her face hidden from the lens.
Seeing Seth brought tears streaming down Cordelia’s cheeks. She had dreamt of her grandfather countless times; the once formidable financier was now frail and weakened. It was a poignant mix of sorrow and joy.
Seth’s head moved slightly as he looked at Cordelia, then at Tony, who nodded back at him. Seth’s eyes were filled with emotion as he studied Cordelia carefully.
Then, with a motion of his hand, Seth asked Tony and Eason to leave the room, wanting a private moment with Cordelia.
From beneath his pillow, Seth produced a piece of paper. It read:
“The key is with August, though he doesn’t know what it’s for. I’ve instructed him to keep it safe.”
Cordelia realized that Seth was a shrewd man. Without a true familial bond, August would never hand over the key to her. In other words, both she and August would be required to access the inheritance.
