Cordelia couldn't help but let out a wry smile, probably finding it amusing how Ronan had made such a hasty decision.
She was at odds with him now, but it wasn't like when Shelley had just passed away. Back then, she felt like Ronan had robbed her of the only family she had. When she first moved to the States and the UK, being pushed around by Alana and unable to see or hear Ronan, she was suffocating with a kind of "longing sickness." But she had to grind that longing down to dust, always feeling like the end of the world was nigh, shedding tears for no reason, sinking into depression.
But things were different now. She was in Millstone, working under him, able to see Ronan whenever she wanted. If she got upset, at most she'd give him an earful. Cordelia had basically bounced back to her initial honeymoon phase with Ronan.
What was different was that back then, she didn't know what the future held, thinking she and Ronan would eventually part ways. But now, she was certain she held a place in Ronan's heart; otherwise, he wouldn't have waited for her for three years.
This time, it was likely just a fit of pique!
Though even now, Cordelia was clueless about what had actually happened.
But she was determined not to let Ronan off easy this time.
"Petra," Cordelia finally responded to Victoria's question.
"Petra? He married Petra?" Victoria's eyes widened in shock, asking Cordelia, "A real femme fatale, huh?"
Cordelia knew that by "femme fatale," Victoria meant Petra was a sly one. In the past, Cordelia would have seized the chance to gossip, but today, she remained silent.
"Has Ronan lost his mind? What a jerk, I'm going to find him." Victoria spun on her heel, "You won't be able to stand it at Pearl Palms anymore, and how am I supposed to cozy up to Janice now? It's a domino effect."
Cordelia was speechless. Victoria could be so pragmatic, not even trying to understand her.
Victoria quickly made her way to the Evans household.
Ronan was home.
"Ronan, when Cordelia was at Birchwood, you kept showing up at her school. And now, what, she takes one trip to the UK and you go marry someone else? You're a piece of work!" Victoria accused, her voice filled with righteous indignation.
