Eason shot Cordelia a message on Facebook Messenger.
“Hey Cordelia, your mom didn't have any legal status here in the UK, so I took her to get a passport today. Makes traveling a whole lot easier, you know? But since her name was already taken by Alana, we had to register her as Paola. How would you feel about your mom visiting you in China?”
Cordelia's heart swelled with gratitude as she replied, “Really? Thank you so much. That would be amazing.”
“Come on, we're practically family. No need for thanks. Aunt Paola's been staying at my place lately.”
“Awesome. Book that flight and let me know ASAP.” Cordelia was overjoyed at the prospect of her mother coming to China. She always felt much safer there than back in the UK.
With her mother's situation temporarily sorted, Cordelia felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
“Did you sort out things with Ronan?” Eason asked.
“He's married now, what can I do? I've seen their marriage certificate. And he even mentioned our supposed engagement—no clue where he got that from.”
Eason sent over a link. “Is this the one?”
When Cordelia clicked on it, she saw the announcement about Simone and Eason's engagement.
She let out a bitter laugh. Simone was a name she'd made up on the fly during her time with the Keegan family, and the only person who knew it was that woman from Alana's house. It was clear who had leaked the news to the press.
Now, with Cordelia and Ronan apart, Alana must be thrilled. But after finding out Alana was her aunt and understanding the whole backstory, Cordelia refused to let her have the last laugh. With so many sins to her name, Cordelia despised her too much to give her that satisfaction.
If Alana wanted Cordelia and Ronan to break up, Cordelia was determined to do just the opposite.
She was set on winning Ronan back—to crush Alana's hopes and to make Ronan rue his choices!
