The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 637

Cordelia's mind was a chaotic whirlwind of anger as she recounted the last three years. Talking to the officer, she couldn't help but vent her fury about Harold Smith, the man who had wronged her so deeply. She also spilled the beans about the treacherous Alana and Paola sisters, including Alana's despicable act of poisoning their grandfather.

"The authorities in the UK will coordinate the investigation," the officer assured her.

When the conversation ended, Cordelia felt an overwhelming wave of exhaustion wash over her.

She then asked the officer, "Is Alana really behind bars now?"

"Indeed, she is."

"Can I see her?" Cordelia asked again, her voice tinged with doubt. Despite knowing that justice often prevails, Alana's cunning nature made her skeptical. She needed to see it with her own eyes.

"Of course," the officer replied and made the arrangements.

The Alana Cordelia faced now was a shadow of her former self. Without makeup, the natural aging and harsh prison life had stripped away any semblance of beauty she once clung to. Dressed in prison garb and with unkempt hair, there was still a trace of her once ferocious aura.

Cordelia knew, deep down, that Alana was likely going to spend the rest of her life in this concrete cage.

The law back home might ignore the poisoning of her mother and grandfather, but the charges of inciting murder and threatening Cordelia would surely seal Alana's fate.

"Auntie Alana, is that what I should call you now?" Alana’s face showed no sign of fatigue from her incarceration; instead, there was a spark of excitement in her eyes. Maybe the truly deranged find pleasure in their own notoriety.

"Since when did you earn the title of 'aunt'?" Cordelia shot back.

"Regardless, that's what I am." Alana leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "The key to the Swiss bank account is in my possession. Don't you want it?"

"It's just a measly twenty billion," Cordelia dismissed.

Alana recoiled slightly, a smirk playing on her lips. "Ah, to be the wife of a wealthy man, where twenty billion is but chump change. But you'll never see a dime of it now. I've melted the key down to nothing but water!"
