The door creaks open and Alexandra enters the living room and bumps into Veronica sitting on the couch weeping bitterly. Glued to the ground, Alexandra doesn't move for a long moment, her eyes fixed intently on Veronica, her face becomes saddened, filled with emotions and she clears her throat, and moves closer to Veronica who was now gazing into her eyes.
"Mom, what are you doing here? Why are you crying? Shouldn't you be on that trip?" She asked, pretending to be concerned
Veronica glares at her, not falling for those deceitful lies. "Mind your own business"
"But Mom, I can't see you crying and walk past that will be so bad of me"
"Mind your own business, I said" Veronica wipes her tears but they kept pouring down
"You are the one who taught me to wash clothes, and dishes and do all the chores. There are things I wouldn't dare know if it weren't for you so what kind of daughter will I be if I see you crying and then decide to walk away"
"Daughter?" Veronica scoffs, enraged.
"Am I not your daughter? I know we are not related by blood but I do consider you my mother, don't you consider me your daughter?"
"Have you lost your mind?"
"How?" Tears crawl up her eyes
"You are not my daughter Alexandra, you and I are nothing to each other. You mean nothing to me"
"Mom," she whispers, pretending to be hurt.
"Why? Did I hurt your esteem? Do you have one?"
"How can you say that to me after all we've been through? We live in the same house, cook from the same pot, share the same meal, and are from the same pack. Doesn't all that mean anything to you?"
"What will it mean for me?"
"I don't know, I thought maybe it means we are getting on that path of mother, daughter relationship"
Veronica chuckled. "Are you crazy? Have you lost your mind? Do I look like your mother?"
"No, you don't"
"Get out" Veronica states as tears brims down her cheeks.
Alexandra attempts to hold her arms but she quickly moves away from her like some plague.
"Stay away from me and let me be. Don't you get it"
"I won't mom. Family supports each other and when one is crying, the other person is crying as well, when one is not feeling good, the other person is not feeling good as well. They laugh together and cry together, that's what family is and you are my family"
"I'm not your family! What sort of support will a girl like you give me? What sort of prank are you playing?"
"I'm not playing at anything Mom, I'm just being concerned"
"Concerned? Stop trying to act like you care because I know that you don't! I can see right through those scheming eyes of yours. Those deceitful eyes bore holes through my skin every time I walk past you"
"Mom" Alexandra whispers, feigning to be hurt
"Stop calling me that!"
"If I don't get to call you Mom, What then should I call you?"
"Luna. I'm the Luna of this pack after all"
Alexandra tightens her fist, wishing she could laugh at her face. "You want me to address you as the Luna"
