A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 234

The air in the room was as frosty as an autumn morning in the Midwest, and Mia's demeanor was like a slap across the face. She sat there, right beside the showrunner of the talk show, her aura clashing violently with the vibes of those around her. Sensing the tension, the showrunner had to step in quickly to smooth things over. "Hey there, I'm the head of this little circus," he said with a forced smile. "We're all buzzing about this hot new game, 'Love Evolution,' and we're dying for some juicy exclusive scoop."

It was Orson's cue to take over, as per the script. He suppressed his impatient air and replied, "What kind of spoilers are you hoping to dig up?"

He was timely in his response, and eventually, the atmosphere began to thaw. People started to pitch in with their own questions, and the interview stretched on for an entire hour. By the time it was edited, it would probably boil down to a mere twenty minutes. Through it all, Mia didn't give Matilda the time of day. When others asked her questions, she responded with a smile, but whenever Matilda piped up, Mia's face was a blank slate, as if she hadn't heard a thing.

The tension was palpable, and everyone picked up on it. Yet, for the sake of group harmony, no one called it out directly. When the interview wrapped, Mia's manager handed her a bottle of water, his tone casual, "Mia, what's got you so fired up today?"

Mia let out a laugh, sharp as a knife's edge. "Just spotted a snake in the grass, gives me the creeps, you know?"

It was clear who she was referring to.

Mia's ties with Yvan ran deep. When she took aim, no one dared to lend a hand.

Her unchecked behavior grew bolder. Sipping her water, Mia raised an eyebrow and sneered, "Matilda, looks like you're on a downward spiral. Never thought I'd bump into you in a place like this. What, did Adrian and Mr. Farrell kick you to the curb?"

Holy smokes, that was scandalous!

Yet Matilda remained cool as a cucumber, seemingly indifferent to Mia's presence. "Is the interview over?" she asked, her voice calm and detached.

The cameraman nodded eagerly, "All done, all done. You guys go ahead."

"Why so scared of her?" Mia stood up, her words dripping with mockery. "If there's a mess-up, just say it. It's not like she doesn't have plenty of time to charm the pants off guys. Having her on the show every now and then isn't too bad."
