A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 360

Adrian paused for a moment, then glanced at the book in her hand. It was a technical manual; even stuck in the hospital, she couldn't resist coding.

It seemed some feelings lingered, embedded so deep that even if the brain forgets, the body remembers. Yvan's impact was profound; erasing him from her memory did little to fade the habitual emotions that surfaced.

Adrian let out a sigh, "Don't you feel anything when you hear my name?"

Matilda shook her head honestly, "No."

It felt to Adrian as if he'd been struck through the heart.

Logan couldn’t help but laugh at the situation, "Mom might forget everyone else, but never me!"

Adrian glared at him, "Don't get too cocky. You'll have your moment!"

Their playful banter lightened the mood. Since Matilda had forgotten Adrian, she also had no memory of the wrongs he had done to her, which oddly made her view him in a positive light. He seemed like a warm, mixed-race young man, at least in the eyes of her son Logan, whose affection was undeniably genuine.

Bored, Adrian suggested they play poker, promptly setting up a small table at the foot of the bed and magically pulling out a deck of cards from his pocket.

Logan and Matilda were both taken aback by Adrian's initiative. After explaining the rules, Logan, with an air of maturity beyond his years, crossed his arms and nodded, "Yeah, I get it. The more cards dealt, the higher the chance of drawing a good hand."

"Smart kid," Adrian chuckled, shuffling the cards with skill. The three of them sat down to play, feeling completely at ease in the private VIP hospital room.
