Bumping into Matilda at the restaurant again was something Yvan hadn't anticipated.
At that moment, she was with friends, while Yvan came in alone for a bite. The waiter, lacking any tact, asked, "Table for how many, sir? Just one, or are we expecting company later?"
"Just one," Yvan murmured.
Dining solo in such an upscale place? It's hard to understand the logic of the wealthy. Don't they usually just snap their fingers and have people flocking to dine with them?
Yvan chose a seat by the window, as far away from Matilda as possible. Chloe was initially enjoying her steak just fine until she caught sight of Yvan not too far away, immediately losing her appetite.
Just my luck, Yvan seems to be everywhere these days.
Chloe made a face, turning to Matilda, "Did he follow you all the way to Whity City?"
Matilda was taken aback, quickly shaking her head in denial, "That seems a bit much. Maybe he's just got too much time on his hands."
In her mind, Yvan was always busy; even making time to come home was precious. So why would he waste so much time on his ex-wife?
Later, when Matilda went to the restroom, Chloe tried to sneakily pick up the tab, only to be told by the waiter that someone had already taken care of it.
Chloe's mind immediately went to Yvan.
She looked towards the window seat; he was gone.
Instructing the waiter to keep an eye on their belongings, Chloe sprang up and dashed out the door.
Yvan had just stepped out when he heard someone call out.
