"Leave, or watch Matilda and me die right here, right now!"
Yvan's words threw the room into chaos. Tears welled up in Rachel's eyes as she cried, "Yvan, have you lost your mind? Are you this upset because I came here?"
Yvan didn't even glance at Rachel. His eyes were fixed on his grandmother. With just a bit of pressure, the blade bit into his skin.
Thin rivulets of blood soon traced down Yvan's wrist. Opal went pale—this was no idle threat.
"My boy, what in the world are you doing? Threatening your own grandmother?"
"Grandma, it's not me pushing you; it's you cornering me!"
Yvan's eyes were bloodshot. "How could you treat Matilda and her son like this today, without a second thought for my feelings? I've done everything to give them a better life, and with just a couple of dismissive gestures, you've shattered all my efforts!"
He was nearly screaming, as if trying to burst his own soul with the force of his voice.
Opal stared incredulously at her grandson. "Yvan, are you really standing up to your grandma? Do you have no respect for me?"
"Do you even see me?"
Yvan shot back sharply. "All you care about is the Boyd legacy. You wish the entire Boyd clan would dance to your tune, never once treating me as your kin!"
Keaton, witnessing the whole scene, stormed off to fetch some burly security guards, and soon had them escorting Opal out, "Get her out of here! What, do they think we're pushovers?"
"What do you think you're doing!" Opal, never before treated this way, blustered. "I'm an old woman. Lay a finger on me, and it's as good as bullying the elderly!"
"To hell with that!"
