A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 634

Matilda and her son sat on the couch, lost in a daze that seemed to stretch on forever. Since the incident with Yvan, they felt like they were walking through a dream.

Yvan, with his larger-than-life persona, always so brash and self-assured, cold yet decisive—he'd been like a titan among men, impervious to pain in everyone's eyes. How could someone like that just... vanish?

Matilda was convinced it had to be a nightmare. Any moment now, she'd wake up, and everything would be as it was.

Then Logan looked up, his voice barely above a whisper, "Mom, is this all just a bad dream?"

Holding Logan close, Matilda stroked his cheek, "It's okay, baby. It's over for us now."

They were finally free, no longer living under Yvan's shadow.

He had chosen self-destruction as a means to liberate Matilda and Logan once and for all.

Staring ahead, Matilda silently repeated Yvan's last words.

It's all over. Forget me and live well.

Live well.

...

When Yvan was found, he was barely alive, drenched in blood and hanging from a tree. Despite wearing a bulletproof vest, the barrage of bullets he'd endured was more than any man could bear. When Declan found him, he bellowed from below, "Someone help! Get him down, now!"

The branch Yvan was hanging from was eventually cut down, bringing with it the body of Chad. Yvan hit the ground, his consciousness fading as he coughed up blood, then passed out completely.

Declan was frantic, rushing him to the hospital, while Matilda was shaken awake in the middle of the night by Adrian's call, screaming, "They found Yvan! He's alive!"
