A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 635

Matilda felt a sharp pain in her chest, realizing that Keaton's comforting words to Violet were just a brave front. As a doctor, he understood the situation all too well.

Her voice trembling, Matilda tried to offer some solace, "We've found him... Compared to the hopeless waiting before, at least now there's some hope, right? We can only do our best..."

Keaton managed a strained smile, but it only deepened Matilda's sense of impending doom.

The surgery lasted seven hours. Eventually, Noel had to practically drag Violet to bed, reasoning that if they kept waiting without any news on Yvan, Violet herself would collapse from exhaustion.

The once radiant socialite was now a shadow of her former self, her days of worry leaving streaks of silver in her hair. Noel, looking at his wife, said, "You need to rest, Violet. I'll stay here for Yvan..."

"My son, I can't... How could it have taken so long?" Violet's eyes were swollen from crying. Later, it was Keaton and Noel who escorted her away. When Keaton returned, the operating room lights had been turned off.

As if the final spark in the night had been extinguished.

The doctor emerged, mask in hand, urgency in his voice, "It's beyond us. We can't save him like this."

A ruptured kidney, a fractured skull, multiple abrasions, and gunshot wounds, not to mention severe blood loss—any one of these injuries could be fatal.

"I have a friend in Australia who's a doctor. He thinks there might be a chance if we can get him over there!"

Keaton's heart sank as the doctor continued, "We can't move him yet. We need to stabilize the bleeding in his major artery first."

Keaton staggered back, his face ashen. Covering his face, he shook his head in despair, murmuring, "No, no..."
