A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 693

Keaton snapped to attention, his words spilling out quickly, "No, no... that's not quite right... What I mean is... there are things you just have to see and accept with your own eyes."

It was a statement as good as unsaid, leaving Yvan frowning. "If I've forgotten something important, you have to tell me."

Keaton let out a sigh, "Yvan, some things... telling you wouldn't help. It'd only add a new layer of hurt."

Yvan fell into a silence so deep that Keaton began to wonder if he'd said something wrong. After what seemed like an eternity, Yvan finally spoke, "Did she... did she hate me at one point?"

Some answers are understood without words.

That's why Matilda, upon seeing Yvan for the first time after their long separation, couldn't control herself and ended up crying as she slapped him across the face.

Yvan felt a pain in his chest so intense it was unbearable, torturing him from the inside out.

Keaton saw Yvan's expression in the rearview mirror and let out a silent sigh, questioning whether he'd made the right choice.

When the group arrived back at Keaton's place and started unloading, they found Keaton's brother Chase was also home. Chase was about to greet them when he saw Yvan's face.

"Hey," Chase began, only for the word to catch in his throat.

He pointed at Yvan, eyes wide with disbelief, stuttering for a good half minute before finally exclaiming, "You're alive?!"
