While Yvan and Logan were huddled in a secluded corner, busily erasing digital footprints, Matilda, unable to locate the father-son duo, stumbled upon them by chance. The sight of the pair, one large and one small, intensely focused on a laptop perched on their knees, fingers flying over the keyboard, caught her off guard. A quick glance revealed lines of code sprawling across the screen - they were programming, but since when had Logan and Yvan become thick as thieves?
Matilda's brow furrowed in confusion, just as she pondered approaching them, Ventus appeared at her side, his expression as stoic as ever, betraying no emotion unless it concerned something about R7CKY, his dear, battle-tested friend.
"It's going to be okay," Matilda reassured him, though how she could be so certain, she didn't know. "Don't worry."
With a mere nod and a faint "thanks," Ventus shifted his gaze to Yvan and Logan, who were oblivious to their audience. After nearly an hour of their tech wizardry, they simultaneously stretched, only to freeze upon noticing Ventus and Matilda watching them.
Caught off-guard, Yvan and Logan hastily recoiled, mirroring each other's bewildered expressions as they looked up at Matilda.
A laugh escaped Matilda, breaking the tension. Logan, slightly embarrassed, mumbled, "Mom, how long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough," Matilda stepped forward, her tone soft yet firm, "Please, no more dangerous stunts, okay?"
Logan glanced at Yvan, then back down, balling his hands into fists, "Yeah, I know."
Hours later, when the operating room's lights finally dimmed, and R7CKY was wheeled out by Keaton, Ventus was the first to rush forward, anxious for an update.
"The surgery went well, but he'll need to boost his iron levels. Make sure he gets plenty of nutrition," Lance advised, removing his mask, his tone clinical yet caring.
