AUTHOR’S POV
It was the dumbest thought she could ever have. Sara thought and decided to confirm if it was really Albert Alexander or not.
She opened up her mouth but the old man with an awfully familiar voice, didn’t give her any chance to speak.
“ Is Sara around? Don’t tell me you still haven’t told her… ” He sighed exaggeratedly and Sara’s blood froze in her veins.
“ Tell her about yourself soon. You can’t keep this up. ” He advised, thinking of her as Silas and hanged up on the call.
Sara pushed the phone away from her ear and stared at the screen for a good minute, before silently placing it down on the side table.
This was not really true and he was not hiding anything. Must be a wrong call, she lied to herself, trying not to panic or feel hurt.
She was in a phase of denial. She trusted him so much that she didn’t want to believe there could be something so huge he was hiding from her all along.
The door to the bathroom opened and Silas stepped out with only a towel wrapped around his torso. Sara’s eyes were immediately drawn to him.
How could this man ever fool her? She huffed internally, trying to push all thoughts aside.
“ You still didn’t get up! ” Silas yelled out dramatically and dried his hair with a small towel.
“ I – I am getting up now. ” Sara shook her head and pulled a smile up her lips, a wave of coldness hitting her spine.
Sometimes you can feel the ground slipping away from under your feet, she was experiencing this right now.
Forcing herself to her feet, she walked toward the bathroom, her eyes avoiding eye – contact with him.
Silas’s hand shot out grabbing her wrist in a light grip. He made her stop and then face him in silence. His right hand left her wrist and reached up to her forehead, before he questioned. “ Your face is turning pale. Are you feeling alright? ”
Sara lifted her gaze to his light brown orbs and she asked herself the same question. ‘ How could Silas ever fool her like this? ’
It was not possible.
“ Is something bothering you? Wanna stay home? We can go to the beach someday later. ” Silas suggested, his eyes scanning her closely.
She didn’t have a fever but her face was turning pale like she had seen a ghost. It was making him worry.
“ I will take a bath and then we will go to the beach. ” Sara smiled up at him and pushed his hand away gently before she turned around and made her way to the bathroom.
Her eyes met her reflection in the mirror. Heaving a heavy breath, she shook her head.
He would never make a fool out of her. He would never lie. He would never deceive.
It was her who was evil here. She used to lie, betray, fool others. Silas was not like this. He could never do something like this.
She assured herself and proceeded to take the bath, the old man’s words echoing in her mind.
‘ There must be something else. ’ This was the reply to every single question popping in her mind.
***
After taking the shower, Silas and Sara went out. They ate breakfast in the same café where they met for the first time after that night and then, they took a stroll on the beach.
