Chapter 70 The Elevator War

She knew this was all thanks to Daniel.

Everyone in the Graham family treated her with so much kindness. They were genuinely good people.

And precisely because they were so good, Amelia didn’t want to rely on Nina’s connection to them and freely enjoy everything they gave her.

She couldn’t be greedy.

With thoughts of the Graham family and of Benjamin still lingering, Amelia marched off to work with renewed determination.

She made up her mind: once she received payment for all the jobs she had taken recently, she would rent a small place near the Graham family’s home.

That way, they would still be close, and Nina could continue spending time with her dad, her uncles, and her grandfather.

And if she moved out, she wouldn’t interfere with Benjamin falling in love with someone else in the future.

It was perfect.

Amelia proudly believed she had crafted a brilliant plan for her future.

With a plan and a goal in mind, she worked even more diligently.

While Amelia focused on her tasks, inside the Graham Group building, Nina lay sprawled against

Benjamin’s chest. After he carried her into the elevator, the little girl leaned forward on her chubby tummy, insisting on pressing the elevator buttons herself.

Benjamin didn’t refuse.

“Press twenty-six,” he instructed.

Nina, who had only ever attended daycare and not yet kindergarten, listened very seriously. Her round cheeks tightened with determination as she nodded hard.

The moment she finished nodding, she stretched out her plump little finger with great resolve.

A second later, every button on the panel lit up one by one.

Benjamin shook his head helplessly and sighed, “Do you know which one is two?”

Nina answered, “Nina know!”

She pointed solemnly at the number three.

Benjamin’s usually calm, cold face took on a rare expression that could only be described as indescribable.

He lowered his eyes and looked at this silly little girl who couldn’t even tell two from three. After a long pause, his thin lips finally moved.

“You didn’t get that from me.”

Ever since he was a child, Benjamin had been unusually sharp with numbers.

Before he even started kindergarten, he not only recognized every number and could do basic math, but he also loved solving all sorts of little math problems.

In short, he had definitely not been as clueless as this Nina in his arms.

“This one is two.” Benjamin pointed at the correct button and said, “From now on, I’ll teach you every day.”

After saying that, he reached out to turn off the other random floors she had pressed.

But the moment he switched one off, Nina leaned over and pressed it again.

She insisted on lighting up every button.

The elevator stopped on every floor. For someone like Benjamin-who hated wasting time—his jaw

twitched.

He said, “Nina, we’re going to the twenty-sixth floor. Don’t press the other floors.”

Nina chirped, “No! Nina press all!”

Her eyes sparkled with excitement, completely pleased with her masterpiece of blinking lights.

Amelia never let her press buttons like this, and now Benjamin wasn’t stopping her at all.

Realizing her dad wasn’t going to get mad, Nina sat on his arm, giggling nonstop.

She was perfectly skilled in the art of bullying her dad and fearing her mom.

Fortunately, Benjamin was using his private elevator, one that outsiders couldn’t access.

So Nina’s wild button-mashing only created trouble for her father and no one else.

Time ticked by slowly.

After riding what might have been the longest elevator trip of his life, Benjamin finally reached his office.

His office was enormous and divided into multiple functional areas: a resting room, a bathroom, the coffee Corner, a reading space, and the main workspace-all clearly separated.

Benjamin told her, “Nina, don’t leave this room. You can stay here and play with whatever you want, do whatever you like.”

He still had work to do. He let Lucien stay with Nina, and his number-four personal assistant quietly remained nearby to watch over the child.

“Daddy! TV!” Nina said.

Benjamin turned it down. “No. Your eyes haven’t recovered yet.”
