Chapter 71 Guarding the Door
Lucien lifted his toy gun and lectured Nina with a serious face. “That Mia who bullies you? She’s coming to steal your daddy. She wants to take your mommy’s husband! We have to hit her!”
He sounded absolutely fired up.
Nina didn’t understand everything, but she caught a few key words.
“Steal hah-buh! Nina hit!” she said.
Lucien corrected her, “Hey, not steal your husband. She wants to steal your mommy’s husband!”
Nina was instantly confused. Her round eyes went blank for a moment, and her tiny voice asked, “Nina hah- buh?”
Lucien said helplessly, “You don’t have any
husband!”
Realizing it was impossible to explain the husband situation to Nina, Lucien hoisted his toy gun again and forcibly changed the subject.
He ordered, “Nina, watch the door!”
Nina replied, “Yeah!”
She copied Lucien and aimed her toy gun at the door.
Her serious little stance-tiny legs planted wide, chubby arms holding up the gun-made Benjamin, who sat at his desk nearby, look over more than once.
For over twenty years, Benjamin had never raised or taken care of a child.
He never imagined that taking care of someone as tiny as Nina could actually be this entertaining.
Watching her guard the door, Benjamin finally gave in after holding back for a while. He quietly raised his phone and took two photos.
Then he sent them to Amelia.
Amelia had still been worrying about Nina. The moment she saw Benjamin’s photos, her heart settled immediately.
Amelia asked, “What is Nina doing?”
Benjamin replied, “Guarding the door.”
Amelia stared at the photos. The more she looked, the more it seemed like… blocking the door.
Knowing Nina all too well, she-hurried to remind him, “Tell her not to hit people with the gun. I’ve been correcting that bad habit for so long, and she still hasn’t fully changed.”
Benjamin sent, “Sure.”

Amelia continued, “Oh, and her little water bottle is in the bag. Give her more water. She doesn’t like drinking water, so offer it to her a few times.”
Benjamin replied, “Sure.”
His replies were short.
Staring at the tiny messages, Amelia immediately panicked.
She felt she was talking too much.
Benjamin was a very cold, quiet person. He obviously didn’t like chatting.
And here she was, sending him message after message. Maybe he already found her annoying.

His replying one word at a time was probably his polite way of hinting he didn’t want to talk anymore.
Certain she had deciphered Benjamin’s hidden message, Amelia instantly stopped texting him.
Benjamin held his phone and waited a moment.
That’s it?
While he was still frowning without realizing it, Nina was already getting impatient at the door.
She didn’t want to guard anymore!
The little girl started walking away with her gun. Lucien scrambled to coax her, “Nina, wait, wait! We’re gonna catch the enemy soon!”
Nina puffed up her chubby cheeks and said, “I go!”
She didn’t like standing still.
She wanted to play!
Just when Lucien was about to lose her, the door they were guarding finally moved.
There was a knock, followed by an assistant’s voice.
“Mr. Graham, Ms. Mia Wilson says she has something to discuss with you.”
Benjamin heard Mia’s name and hadn’t spoken yet, but Lucien-who had been waiting forever-instantly lit up. He swung the door wide open.
“Nina! The enemy is here!”
As soon as Lucien said that, Nina raised her gun and pointed straight at Mia, standing at the door.
“Hit!” she shouted and jabbed her toy gun at Mia.
Lucien pointed his gun too.
Both of them stood in full attack mode.
