Chapter 72 A Little War at the Door

Mia really wanted to scream.

Her teeth nearly cracked from how hard she clenched them at Lucien and Nina.

Seeing the two kids blocking the door like guard dogs, she gave up on them and called straight inside, “Benjamin. I need to talk to you. Can I come in?”

“No! I said no, are you deaf?” Lucien snapped.

Nina got mad, too. “No!”

She puffed her chubby cheeks and whacked Mia again with the gun.

The doorway turned into total chaos. Benjamin glanced at the two furious little cubs and murmured something to the assistant beside him.

The assistant quickly walked over, coaxed the kids back inside, then shut the door right in Mia’s face.

The assistant said, “Ms. Wilson, if you have business, please email me or call directly. In the future, there’s no need for you to make the trip here.”

Mia knew perfectly well that the assistant’s attitude was Benjamin’s attitude.

That was why her face instantly darkened.

“Benjamin really doesn’t want to see me?” she asked in disbelief.

She tried to play weak, but the assistant who had escorted her here politely cut her off and gestured for her to leave, “Ms. Wilson, this way, please.”

Mia was practically thrown out. When she walked away, her nails dug so deep into her palms they nearly bled.

Leaving the Graham Group building, Mia stormed off to find Freya.

When she arrived, she ran right into Zoe, who had also come looking for Freya.

Mia had never paid much attention to Zoe until she heard Zoe mention Amelia.

“Daniel suddenly turned so cruel to me because he fell for someone else! He likes a woman named Amelia. She is a total man-stealer. She even seduced Bob…”

Zoe was happily piling dirt on Amelia.

Freya listened without much reaction, but Mia’s eyes grew brighter and brighter.

Over at Wilson Villa, Mia was still soaking up the gossip. Meanwhile, back at the Graham Group building, the two little warriors who had chased off the enemy were celebrating their victory.

Benjamin grabbed the little water bottle and walked over to Nina, who was now standing on his coffee table. He held it to her lips.

Chapter 72 A Little War at the Door

Nina took two sips and refused any more.

Benjamin didn’t force her. He put the bottle away and went back to work.

Nina stayed on the coffee table, going “pew-pew-pew” with her gun for a while.

Soon, she got bored and turned her chubby face toward Lucien.

Lucien read her mind instantly.

One look between them, and Lucien suggested hide-and-seek.

Nina clapped her tiny hands. “Yay!”

She slid off the table and scampered off to hide.

The huge office instantly became their playground.

Benjamin hated being disturbed when he worked.

Yet right now, he was handling a multi-billion-dollar deal while using his leg to shield a two-and-a-half- year-old.

Nina never once thought she might be bothering her dad’s work.

She tugged at his trouser leg, cheeks flushed, big wet eyes staring up at him.

“Daddy! Nina hide good?”

“Mm, you’re hidden very well,” Benjamin answered without pausing his work.

Nina was hidden, but Lucien never came looking.

Lucien’s kids’ smartwatch rang. He answered one call and bolted.

On his way out, he shouted, “Mr. Graham, I gotta go! Something came up! I’ll play with Nina again later!”

Benjamin heard him. Nina did not.

She hugged his leg and asked in a tiny voice, “Daddy, wha’ say?”

“Nothing. Keep hiding.” Benjamin smoothly fooled Nina and kept her hiding.

Nina took games very seriously.

Since Lucien hadn’t found her, she stayed put!

Her staying quietly in one spot actually made things easier for Benjamin.

If she ran around, it would be harder for him to watch her.

Time ticked by while Nina waited.
