AUTHOR'S POV
“ I am doing this because I love you. ” He whispered close to her lips and Sara's fight or flight response activated instantly.
Her hand shot up to slap him right across his face, before she pushed him away from her. Her eyes glared at the darkness in front of her.
“ Do. Not. Touch. Me. Again. ” Her eyes burned as she hissed at him and heard the ragged breaths from in front of her.
“ You just slapped me? ” He chuckled out in disbelief.
Realization dawned upon Sara all of a sudden. Her hand shot up to cover her mouth in horror.
This man knew her ugly secrets and he was hell powerful. How could she just slap him so stupidly?! He could destroy her and she went around provoking him.
What's wrong with you Sara?! Her mind scolded her harshly.
But she couldn't hold herself back. When he touched her, she was already feeling disgusted by him. There was something familiar about this man though. His hand was soft against her skin just like Silas' and now Sara was sure that her peasant husband really managed to fuck her mind.
She was feeling him all around her and it was creeping her out now.
“ I am sorry. I didn't mean to... ” Sara coughed to clear her throat and apologized in a small tone.
“ So you are saying that you didn't mind me touching you? ” He wondered out in a loud voice and Sara's blood froze in her blood.
Her hands curled into fists as she tried to hold off her anger. She felt like slapping him once more. Perhaps, one slap was not enough to set this man's brain straight.
“ I prefer we both maintain our distance. ” She replied diplomatically, not wanting to provoke him further.
“ Why? ” The voice sounded too close like he had stepped closer to her.
Sara took a step back instinctively. Her breath was caught up her throat.
“ Because I am married. ” The words slipped out of her mouth smoothly, before she could register them in her mind.
Her eyes went wide and she took another step back from him.
“ Does it matter? ” He was unphased by her reason.
A frown etched upon Sara's forehead. Every time she stepped back, he took a step ahead. She could tell this by how close his voice sounded.
Does it matter? Sara asked this question to herself. She was forced into this marriage. She didn't love Silas. He didn't love her either. They both didn't care about each other.
So...Does it matter that she was married? She tried to find the answer in her mind, but failed badly.
There was no answer to this.
“ I take your silence as a big no. ” He said and stepped even more closer, as Sara's back hit something solid.
A wall. She flinched and glanced behind her. She was trapped.
Worst memories once again threatened to resurface but she kept them at bay. She had to deal with the man before her.
He didn't stop even when they were a breath away. He took another step forward and let his body press against her's. She held her breath back. The cold wall behind her was causing shivers to run up and down her spine.
“ I am the man you always wanted. Powerful and Successful. ” He tempted Sara and leaned in to let her feel his hot breaths fanning her face.
Sara pressed her head against the wall behind her to maintain distance from him. This man was such an asshole.
Sara pursed her lips in thin line thinking of what he just said. Ofcourse, he was all she had ever wanted as her husband, but the thing was...
