AUTHOR'S POV
“ We need to meet. ” Sara deadpanned as soon as she picked up the call.
“ Something happened? Again? ” He breathed out, his voice sounding like he was trying to hold back his laughter.
Okay. It might be a bad idea asking him to do something when he was definitely going to ask for something in return, Sara thought as she stayed silent and nibbled on her lower lip thoughtfully.
“ What do you want Sara? ” He asked in a serious tone when Sara stayed silent for a long time.
It was such a good chance at getting him off her back that she wanted to do just as Grandfather Magnus said so Camelia could deal with him instead of her. The thought crossed her mind and she found herself sighing to herself.
The last time she had relied on a powerful man for help, he had tried to rape her and she had killed him. She could never forget this now. The memory was etched in her mind and she lived that memory all the time.
“ I can't take on the project. ” The words slipped out of her mind without any control.
“ Camelia Lexington will take over. That's what I wanted to tell you. ” Sara informed him and met with only silence.
Her heart was pounding so fast when she choked out those words. She knew what this meant. A victory for Camelia and Grandfather Magnus if The Devil didn't do as she expected. She hated herself for doing this but she would hate herself even more if she did something that this man asked of her.
The silence stretched for too long and Sara sighed again before pulling away the phone from her ear. She was going to hang up when his voice sounded from the speaker and she pulled the phone back to her ear.
“ No. You have to take over. ” He declared making Sara's lips curl up in a smirk.
What a good way to get what you want without even asking for it.
“ The decision is final. ” Sara dragged her tongue across her lips and hanged up on the call after saying this to him.
Now, she just had to sit back and watch.
The Devil would deal with Grandfather Magnus on his own. That's what she wanted. She didn't have to ask him to do things for her and as long as she didn't ask anything from him, he could never ask her to return the favor in any way.
He was so eager to deal with everything that concerned her. Then, he should.
Sara grabbed her handbag and pushed the phone inside it before coming out of the office with a smile plastered over her lips.
Now, she just had to go home and pack bags to go to the honeymoon. The smile on her lips fell instantly when she thought of this.
Anxiety kicked in again. Honeymoon? With Silas?
Sara scrunched up her nose as she walked to the elevator keeping her head high.
Oh how she hated even the idea of having to spend a single day with Silas all alone! He would definitely try to get on her nerves again.
The man didn't know when to stop being so cheesy.
A smile threatened to break out on her lips, but Sara held it back letting a frown take it's place instead.
Why did she want to smile when it came to Silas?! She should never think about him like that.
As she pressed the button on the lift and the doors opened, she stepped inside followed by another man.
Rowan.
Sara sighed internally. Rowan still creeped her out.
“ You are really going to do what Grandfather said? ” He asked as soon as the lift doors closed and Sara had to look over at him to take a better look at his expressionless face.
Rowan was never upto any good but it was impossible to know what went through his head.
“ Yes. I will do as Grandfather says. ” She declared with no hesitation. No one would never know she was lying. She had gotten too good at this.
A lazy smirk broke out on Rowan's lips and his eyes darkened as he said. “ I highly doubt it Sara. ”
There was a certainity in his tone. He was sure she would not do what Grandfather Magnus said.
A lump clogged Sara's throat as she looked up at Rowan, unblinking. For once, she wanted to know what he was thinking.
Rowan leaned in like he was going to tell her a secret before he whispered. “ Vengeance is going to ruin us all including you too Sara. ”
Sara's brain froze hearing what he said before she narrowed her eyes and glared up at his smirking face.
