AUTHOR’S POV
“ Home. ” Silas stopped by the door to say only this before he opened the door and left the room.
Sara’s hands turned cold. Home? The same home he mentioned on the phone earlier?
He wouldn’t really leave, right? She gulped, her hands beginning to tremble by her side. She just wanted him to stay out of her business. She didn’t want him to leave her.
She took one step ahead wanting to go behind him and ask him to stay but then, her feet stopped on their own. If he was leaving on his own, she didn’t need to stop him.
She didn’t have a reason for which she could want Silas to stay here.
It was better if he left. All problems would be solved if he was not here anymore. Sara inhaled deeply and looked down at her bare feet.
So, this was how it was supposed to turn out in the end.
***
Silas left the house and went straight to his own after hailing a cab. She wanted him gone at any cost and he was just giving her what she wanted.
The security guard saw him as soon as he got down from the cab and he opened the huge gate for him.
Silas walked inside and crossed the long driveway in which there was a marvelous fountain surrounded with lights.
When he went to his room on the first floor and opened the door to it, Grandfather Albert was sitting right in front of him. Sitting on the couch, he was holding onto his cane as his eyes stayed fixed at Silas.
Silas didn’t even need to know what he was doing in his room at this time of night. The guard must have informed him as soon as he saw him. It took him almost ten minutes to get here on his feet and Grandfather Albert came before him so he could question him.
Why are you back in the middle of the night? That’s what Grandfather Albert wanted to ask, Silas was aware of it.
He brushed off the hurt feeling from his mind and let his face remain neutral so Grandfather Albert didn’t worry about him.
It was better when it was just him and Grandfather Albert. They lived in peace.
But, then Silas found Sara and he had to do everything to go behind her. He loved her, tried to be good to her, tried to do everything for her.
He had admitted in his heart today that he loved her but he didn’t know how to express that love and this was the reason, they both could never be together.
They both were too proud for each other.
He tried leaving his huge ego aside. He became just a useless son-in-law for her. He put everything on hold. He neglected his responsibilities in the Corporation. He left Grandfather Albert alone.
He did all of this for Sara, to stay close to her. But, they always lacked the much needed honest conversation and they were never going to be honest with each other.
There was nothing in this relationship except for Silas’s love and Sara’s hate.
Relationships didn’t work this way so it was never going to work out between them. At least, Silas was the only one getting hurt right now.
“ She hurt you. ” Instead of asking any questions, Grandfather Albert concluded, grabbing Silas’s attention.
He was surprised. He shook his head and looked up at Grandfather Albert.
