AUTHOR’S POV
She was in a trance. Even when she saw him laying in the middle of the road, people gathering around him, she didn’t move from her spot. Her body was frozen in time.
Grandfather Albert was informed by security. They took him to the hospital. The moment Grandfather Albert came to her, she broke out of her trance and rushed behind him because he had asked her to follow.
This was the third time she had felt so hysteric and scared in her whole life. The first time was when her mother died taking her childhood away, the second time was when she had accidentally killed Gabriel which resulted in being losing another part of herself and then today…
She was sure if something happened to him, she was not going to live for longer either.
All thoughts of getting deceived disappeared altogether. She could leave him but she couldn’t bear him leaving her. Ever.
Sitting in the hospital waiting room, she kept her head down. Grandfather Albert was sitting beside her, tears threatening to fall his eyes. Silas was his last hope, the only family he had. He regretted sending her behind Sara. If he had not went behind her, he would be fine right now.
Sara didn’t cry or look at anyone. Grandfather Albert was the one who responded to everything. It made her wonder how an old man was emotionally stronger than her. She was just too…scared to even look at anyone.
She feared someone was going to come out and tell her that he was not here anymore. The thought alone was enough to make her heart twist in her chest.
Why did he do it?! She felt like going inside the OT and scream at him. He was so stupid. He was always so stupid. How could he just take her place and throw himself in the way of death? He was not supposed to play some superhero part.
Hours and hours of wait – agonizing, nerve wrecking wait and the doctors finally stopped by them to tell them about his current condition.
“ Your Grandson is out of danger now. His head was injured and his left arm has strain. There are some mild scratches here and there. He is so lucky that he got out of the accident with only a few injuries. Nothing is too serious. Everything will be fine. ” The doctor informed them and Sara exhaled heavily. She was on the edge that it was hard to even breath but he was fine…Everything was fine, thankfully.
Grandfather Albert stood straight but Sara could notice his old muscles visibly loosening. His Grandson was fine, nothing could make him more happy in his life.
“ When can we see him? ” Grandfather Albert asked impatiently.
“ In a few hours or so. He is still unconscious but he will come back to senses soon. ” The doctor informed with a smile and took his leave.
Grandfather Albert and Sara remained behind in silence. Slowly, Grandfather Albert turned to face Sara who glanced up. She knew deep down that it was all her fault. She was supposed to be in his place. She was supposed to be hurt, not Silas. Grandfather Albert was going to blame her now, she thought.
“ You don’t need to look like you are going to die. He is alright. ” Contrary to her expectations and fears, Grandfather Albert spoke calmly scaring her even more.
She sat back down on the chair, her legs too weak to keep her standing. “ I am sorry. ” She whispered, feeling guilty.
“ Everything is alright. ” Grandfather Albert assured her again and sat down beside her, keeping his hold on his cane tight.
He sure blamed her a little but…she wouldn’t have ran if she was not so out of her mind at that moment. It was no one’s fault. It was just an accident. Accident…Grandfather Albert’s eyes moved toward Sara and his mind worked in the opposite direction.
Nothing was ever a coincidence or accident in their lives. The car had broken the signals. Grandfather Albert needed to find out who tried to kill his Grandson or perhaps, Sara was the target.
Sara gulped hard, bile rising up in her throat. She still felt nauseous and weak. She got up from the chair on her wobbly feet and looked at Grandfather Albert who seemed lost in deep thoughts.
“ I am going to the restroom, Sir. ” She informed him in a timid voice and turned around to leave. Grandfather Albert didn’t stop her.
She rushed toward the washroom and threw up, her head feeling light. She felt so tired, all her body ached like a truck had ran over her.
Standing in front of the washbasin, Silas’s bloodied figure flashed in front of her eyes again and tears began streaming down her face.
She was more stupid than him. Why was she even running? She should have stayed there and slapped the hell out of him for deceiving her like this. She should have asked him those questions she asked herself and she should have taken decisions head on instead of running away. It might have been emotionally draining like that but at least, no one from them would have been physically hurt that way.
She sniffed and cursed at herself internally. Why was she crying NOW? Doctor said he had only mild injuries. He was going to be alright. More tears fell out of her eyes at any lack of explanation for this outburst. She felt so frustrated and angry.
Once he woke up, she was going to fight with him. She sniffed and wiped away the tears before coming out of the restroom.
