The Abandoned Heiress Reborn to Be Cherished (Seraphina) novel Chapter 257

r 257 The Cry of Grief

Shane watched Seraphina crumble under the weight of her denial. Her desperation was unbearable to witness, and it pained him deeply.

He knew she couldn’t keep lying to herself, so he gently but firmly stated, Seraphina, he’s gone.

No!she screamed, her voice raw and shaking with anguish.

He can’t be gone. No, no, no!she mumbled, holding Sebastian’s lifeless body even closer.

She reflected, He’s merely a childbursting with life, full of dreams, and has so much ahead. How could this be happening? I attempt to remain distant from him, believing it will safeguard him. Yet, he was taken away from me.

Why?! Why does fate always take away the people who mean the most? In my past life, I was helpless. Why does it also feel no different now?

Ah!

A piercing scream tore through the air, raw and heartwrenching. It made everyone freeze, their chests tightening as if they could feel her grief.

Seraphina clung to Sebastian’s lifeless form, her sobs racking her small frame. Her eyes were red, swollen, and filled with despair so heavy it seemed to seep into the air around her.

Shane wanted to comfort her, but no words seemed right.

The lackey who had guided them shrank to the corner, shaking with fright. Meanwhile, Jamal and his men stood silently as they watched Seraphina cradle Sebastian, her frail body trembling with the weight of her sorrow.

One minute passed.

Then two.

Then thirty.

Her tears eventually stopped, her sobs fading into a hollow silence. She wiped the final tear from her cheek with a trembling hand. Her eyes, once overflowing with emotion, were now cold and empty.

Shane approached cautiously. Seraphinaare you alright?

She looked up at him and gave a faint smile that chilled him to the bone.

I’m alright, she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Ryan Lambert pays for this,Shane assured, his voice steady but determined.

Seraphina let out a bitter chuckle, her smile twisting into something sharp. There’s no need.

She rose to her feet, carrying Sebastian’s body in her arms. Shane stepped forward to help, but she shook her head.

Sebastian, you mentioned wanting to see the sunrise. This time, I’ll watch it with you, she thought.

She took him to Salden Hill, a cliff overlooking the sea. They sat together at the edge, the wind cold and biting, the waves crashing softly below.

Shane followed at a distance, keeping watch from the shadows.

As the first light of dawn stretched across the water, the sea shimmered gold, and the sky was painted in soft hues of pink and orange. It was beautiful, but the beauty felt hollowunable to touch the chill in Seraphina’s heart.

Isn’t it lovely?she whispered, glancing at Sebastian.

Silence filled the air. His head rested softly on her shoulder as if to say, It’s lovely because you’re here.

Once the sun had fully risen, she muttered, Sebastian, let’s go home now.”

She tried to stand but stumbled, the world tilting around her. Darkness swallowed her vision, and she collapsed.
